Okay…I know we dog Red Robin on Funnybooks with Aron and Paulie, but I went ahead and bought issue #4 (released today) anyway.  And wowza.  Though the book is not without it’s share of issues, something so big happens in issue #4, it almost makes reading the rest of the series worth it.  Wanna know what it is?

MASSIVE spoilers after the jump!

  1. Yup, that’s exactly it Sardel. After Batman “dies” at the Omega Beams of Darkseid, we saw him in the last pages of Final Crisis back in the stone ages, putting the bat symbol on that rock.

The whole premise of Red Robin is Tim Drake proving that Batman is alive, somewhere. Even though I hated Final Crisis, I enjoyed this scene in Red Robin and the impact it had (if you read Final Crisis)

  2. I think it ties into the end of Final Crisis. From what I understand Bruce Wayne was thrown back in time during his encounter with Darkseid. There is a scene of him in a cave leaving that mark. I think it’s his way of leaving a clue to his whereabouts.

Everyone in the DC universe thinks he is dead with the exception of Tim Drake. For Tim to find this means that he was right and that he can move forward in returning Bruce to the correct timeline.

  3. I think it is symbolic of his rising again soon. A stone blocking his grave, ala Jesus. Points to Bruce coming back soon I think, and hope. Or I could be way off.
