Ron Marz returns to the show to talk about his all new, creator-owned project – Shinku.  Shipping this week from Image Comics, Shinku tells the tale of vampires both in modern-day and feudal Japan.  There are samurai, motorcyles and lots of bloody killing.  It’s a terrific book.

We also discuss Ron’s upcoming Green Lantern one-shot for DC, his experience on Thor for Marvel and – oh yes – his current work on Witchblade and Magdalena for Top Cow.

It’s another terrific interview with Ron Marz.

Listen now!

Santa’s making his list, checking it twice and found three guys ain’t nice right here on this podcast.  That’s right… Neither Paul, Tim nor Wayne can expect gifts under the tree.  They’re mean, mean boys.  But Santa won’t be leaving them sticks and coal.  No, this year he’s giving a little Alabama Sunshine to the bad boys.  I hope they learn their lesson.

Meanwhile Aron, who’s been extraordinarily good this year, will enjoy all the toys and comics books Santa’s bringing.

While attending a demonstration in radiology, high school student Paul Aponte was bitten by a podcaster which had accidentally been exposed to radioactive rays.  Through a miracle of science, Paul soon found that he had gained the Podcaster’s powers… and had, in effect, become a human podcaster!  From that day on he was… The Acerbic Paulie-Man!

We suffered some Skype echo. As much as possible was edited out.  Apologies for those remaining.

In a special joint venture between Pauloween Horror Nights 2010 and Funnybooks with Aron and Paulie, we’ve been talking to some awesome horror comic writers this month!  This week?  David Hine, writer of The Darkness: Four Horsemen from Top Cow Comics!

David Hine is the writer of many popular titles, includin g the Marvel mini series X-Men: The 198, Civil War: X-Men, and Silent War. He was also the writer of Spawn for Image comics from issues # 151 to # 184 .  He recently wrote the Arkham Asylum one-shot for the Batman Battle for the Cowl event, as well as the Arkham Reborn and Detective Comics follow-ups, chronicling Jeremiah Arkham’s decent into madness.

You can also catch more Hine-infused horror with Radical Comics’ FVZA: The Federal Vampire and Zombie Agency, and The Bulletproof Coffin with artist Shaky Kane from Image Comics!

No matter how much you love a hobby, sometimes it makes you mad.  And boy, we were awfully cranky on this episode.  Join Aron, Paul, Tim and Wayne as we work out our rage…

Dragoncon 2010

Yeah…we know.

We talk about Ron Marz and Top Cow Comics all the time.  You’re thinking we should just change the name of the show to Top Cow Books With Aron and Paulie.

But, when you get a chance to talk to someone as interesting as Marz, and about comics as good as Velocity, Angelus, Magdalena, Witchblade, and Artifacts, you jump at the chance.

Our first interview with Ron was a blast, and now that Artifacts #1 has hit shelves (with issue 2 due in a coupla weeks), we figured it was time to touchbase with what’s coming up in the big crossover, as well as where the stories are going in his other titles.  Not only that, we touch on fat, sweaty fanboys and sweet, sweet lesbian lovin’.  Oh and sex with household appliances.  And we cuss a lot…probably because we were all drunk.

Seriously…why are you not listening yet?

And our day of free Top Cow goodies concludes with the inaugural chapter of the “War of the Witchblades,” from Witchblade #125.  This is the storyline that introduced the character Finch, and made Danni Baptiste the Angelus, essentially setting up all that’s happening in Top Cow’s Universe right now.  Witchblade Vol.8 is available today, and collects the entire storyline:

The biggest storyline in Witchblade to date is finally collected!
Don’t miss your opportunity to find out what all the excitement was about. Sara Pezzini gives in to the dark side of the Witchblade and only Dani Baptiste can bring her back into balance. And with an ambitious Angelus Lieutenant and an Angelus force without a host circling, neither Sara nor Dani may survive the battle.

Collects Witchblade #125-130 including the bonus story “Augury” from issue #125.

Ideology of Madness

If we geek about it, we speak about it.
