The truth of the matter is that Paul drug me to Amazing Spider-man kicking and screaming.  I hadn’t read the title in more than ten years and while I loved the character, I’d not been jazzed by a Spider-man story in a long while.

Then Paul introduced me to Spidey-scribe Dan Slott’s Big Time, the current story running in Amazing Spider-man.  Oh. My. God.

I said two things to Paul after reading the first book.

  1. “This book is freaking awesome,” and
  2. “We gotta get this Slott-guy on the show.”

Join our conversation with a very sleep deprived Dan Slott as we discuss all things web-headed including Big Time, using his spider-scribe powers for personal gain, Shattered Dimensions, and even Peter Porker: The Spectacular Spider-ham!

While attending a demonstration in radiology, high school student Paul Aponte was bitten by a podcaster which had accidentally been exposed to radioactive rays.  Through a miracle of science, Paul soon found that he had gained the Podcaster’s powers… and had, in effect, become a human podcaster!  From that day on he was… The Acerbic Paulie-Man!

You kinda have to read comics to get the jokes.  Geek humor is belly-guffawingly funny, but only to geeks.

The above Facebook statuses come courtesy of Chris’s Invincible Super-Blog, which for the past couple of weeks has been talking about Dracula in comics.  Make sure you check out his site now!  Which has inspired me to re-watch The Batman vs. Dracula (which kicks ass, by the way).

Watch as Spider-Man (the real one of course) injures himself in a room full of children!  Then a cat pops up and plays piano.  Seriously, I can’t make sh*t like this up.

If you can’t see the video above, it’s because those bastards at your job block YouTube videos.  Jeez.  But watch it at home.  And make sure the entire family’s with you!  Nothin’ says “family time” like a paraplegic Spider-Man.

Thanks Geekologie.

Hmmm…there’s some interesting stuff coming up in July, based on Marvel’s July solicits, including what appears to be a “Rebirth”-style series, featuring the return of a beloved character, an interesting new take on the X-Men, and some interesting stuff finally happening to Spider-Man and Hulk!  Click the pic of the Dark X-Men to check out the good stuff!

Holy crapola!  Back in the late 70′s, Toei produced a Spiderman series that literally had nothing to do with the American Spider-Man, other than a similar costume and the same name.  It was about Takuya Yamashiro, who was a motorcycle racer that became Spiderman after seeing a UFO falling to Earth called the “Marveller”. Takuya’s father, Dr. Hiroshi Yamashiro, a space archaeologist, investigates the ship, but so does Professor Monster and his evil Iron Cross Army, an alien group hoping to use the UFO to to rule the universe!

For years fans (myself included) have tried to get our hands on this series, despite how ludicrously bad it is.  Thanks to Marvel.com, we don’t have to dish out the bucks though – they are streaming episodes every Thursday on Marvel.com!  Check out the first episode below!

For more info, check out Wikipedia too.
