Listened to this morning’s awesome new episode of KNIGHTS OF REIGNSBOROUGH yet?  That’s not the only podcast we’ve released this week!

Monday we dropped our newest episode of FUNNYBOOKS, where, in addition to the best new comic books, we talk about Smallville, Marvel’s new “Point One” Initiative, paying too much for crappy comic books, and the one thing that Tim, Paul and Wayne can all agree on – the one monthly book that’s been consistently good all year.

Also this week was the premiere of our brand new Magic: The Gathering podcast, CARDBOARD CRACK, hosted by Jonathan Landreth and John Anderson.  In the first episode, they make introductions, discuss States, then dive right into discussing Valakut Ramp and its place in the post-rotation Standard meta-game.  Great stuff if you’re into Magic!

Check out these podcasts and more stories here on IoM, and keep listening in every week for new episodes!  Leave comments and let us know what you think of the episodes!

What?  You didn’t notice the kickass new site colors?  The chill in the air (well, some places) and the shitload of rain pouring down outside on the orange and brown leaves as they drift towards the wet grass?

It’s Pauloween time, bitches!

What does that mean?  Well, it means that you need to not go down that dark hallway with the weird noise at the end of it, never say “I’ll be right back,” don’t have any sex, and always stay in the light!  Besides that, your friendly boils and ghouls here at Ideology of Madness will be emphasizing the spooky and the ooky!  We’ve actually already begun, in case you haven’t noticed, with our review of Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights (part 1, 2, and 3), but what else do we have coming?

  • Horror movie reviews!
  • Reviews of haunted attractions from all across the country!
  • Interview with creators of some of the best horror comics out there, including David Hine (Darkness: Four Horsemen) and the creators of Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer!
  • And tons more, culminating in our awesome PAULOWEEN episode (check out last year’s)!

Keep it here for all the horror you need and want!  And don’t forget to check out last year’s Pauloween Horror Nights stories!

Note: Banner art borrowed from the most awesome Halloween site around, www.pumpkinrot.com!

Much like the monsters in the video game Rampage, I’m climbing up the internet and destroying it one punch at a time, until it comes toppling down like a stack of pixeled smoke and destruction.  First, I defiled Ideology of Madness, then moved on to Funnybooks with Aron and Paulie…and now….

…I’ve done a guest article at UncannyKev.com!

I wrote about my love for the character of Daredevil, just in time for you to get inspired by my awesomeness and go buy Shadowland, which we talked about on this week’s Funnybooks episode.

Check out my article now!

iom_forumClick the button to the left and descend into madness… the Ideology of Madness discussion forum, that is!

A number of you have commented that you’d like a discussion board to carry on the conversations from our articles and podcast. We heard you! And ignored you for a time, but you were persistent… nagging, clawing at the edges of our sanity, wearing us down, down…

Until we were left with no other choice in the matter.

Check it out… in fact, you can visit now for a special message for our forum readers…

The perma link is at the top right of the screen, and as space permits the banner will remain on the right side. Come on over. Let’s chat!

UPDATE: Due to technical difficulties surrounding “Comments” on the new design, I’ve re-verted back to our original format. If you missed it, sorry! Guess it’s true what they say … if it ain’t broke…!

Hey everybody, Paul here.

As Aron can tell you, I love our usual site design, but I’m pretty anal about things, so certain aspects of it have always bugged me, the most being that the stories aren’t broken up – you have to look for the large text headings to know when the next story begins.  I find myself wanting to post a picture with every story just to make sure no one misses the beginning of the article.  I mean, I know other blogs do that too, but we’re supposed to be the awesomest awesome that ever awesomed!

I’ve been scouring the internet trying to find a theme that I liked (until I am smart enough to figure out how to create one myself – is there a WordPress Themes for Dummies anywhere?), and I think I really like the design you see right now.  I think we’re going to give it a shot for a coupla days, so let us know what you think!  Do you like this one better?  The original one?

A couple of cool things about this theme -

  • If you’re looking for categories (which we used to have on the top of our page), click the little button on the bottom left.  You’ll be able to choose a category (should you so choose), or even change the background (which I think is pretty nifty).
  • We’ll be toying with the theme all weekend to figure out things like our site banners and do some other testing, so keep an eye out for those changes and let your voice be heard!

After "Mice with Weapons Week," "Free Comic Book Day Week," and "Star Trek Week," prepare yourselves for...NO UNIFYING THEME WEEK!Aron and I decided that, after Mice with Weapons Week, Free Comic Book Day Week, and Star Trek Week, that it was about time to have No Unifying Theme Week! We’re getting back to normal here at IoM, bringing you the latest reviews, news, and thoughts on all the things worth geeking about – comics, movies, gaming (both video and role playing), and just about anything else!  Heck, this past weekend, we even posted a story about Crystal Head Vodka!

We’ve got our AFTERMATH! banners along the right side of the page so you can catch up on the previous themed weeks’ stories, and to have a central location for any stories that may tie into the theme, but that we didn’t get to during the theme week.  Here’s some great stuff you may have missed out on:

  • Our contest to win ONE HUNDRED COMICS!  Ends this Wednesday, May 13th!
  • Interviews with Dave Petersen, creator of Mouse Guard, and Jake Parker, creator of Missile Mouse!
  • Aron’s theories on role playing with animals!
  • Our review of Jellaby: Monster in the City!
  • Local Heroes Comics – the best store in Hampton Roads, Virginia!
  • Free Comic Book Day at Zeus Comics in Dallas, Texas!
  • Our reviews of the new Star Trek – (Aron and Paul)
  • Our review of the Star Trek scores, both past and present!

And those are just a sampling of the stories waiting for you when you click the links along the right side of the page!  We’ve got even more exciting stuff coming up here at IoM, so keep checking back!

Luke Meyer thinks big thoughts in his regular column on IoM: The Wizard Sleeve

Well, that’s only half true.

Luke Meyer, in addition to his weekly duties co-hosting The Podge Cast, will be writing a regular column for Ideology of Madness.  His column, The Wizard Sleeve, will focus on gaming related topics with a heavy emphases on Fourth Edition DnD.

We’re as tickled as we can be to welcome Luke to the site.

The first installment of The Wizard Sleeve will be posted later this morning.
