New Comic Book Day Interviews

Funnybooks with Aron and Paulie: Jeff Parker

by Aron on Feb.25, 2010, under Comics, Funny Books with Aron & Paulie, Marvel, New Comic Book Day Interviews, Podcasts

fb2010_parker2aFULL DISCLOSURE: This is our second recording with Agents of Atlas Writer Jeff Parker.  Our first interview with Jeff was awesome covering the full span of his admirable body of work.  Where can you download that episode you ask?  No where, that’s where!

Due to a colossal failure of technology and technician, we lost that episode (aka FailCast).  Fortunately, Jeff Parker returned for a second review.  And this time, we pushed RECORD.

THE SHOW: We talk about all kinds of cool stuff such as Fall of the Hulks, Agents of Atlas, The Uranian, reprints in Marvel Comics, sad comic conventions, the value of new ideas, Portland, mustaches, DC vs Marvel, Doctor Rape, his Image comic Underground and Parker’s upcoming stint as college professor.  And much, much more.

This interview was one of the most enjoyable we’ve done.  Parker’s a hoot.  Thanks for your patience, Professor Parker.

Funnybooks with Aron and Paulie: Indy Comic Book Week!

by Aron on Dec.28, 2009, under Comics, Funny Books with Aron & Paulie, Independent, New Comic Book Day Interviews, Podcasts

This Wednesday, December 30th, is the start of Indy Comic Book Week (ICBW).  Dozens of creators nationwide generated brand new books just for this occasion and will have books available at stores all over this great country of ours.  In today’s show, we chat with two of the guys behind ICBW, Jake Ekiss and Vinh Luan Luu.  We discuss the weather, art education, the genesis of Indy Comic Book Week, and – oh yes – my hand.

Jake’s Solomon Azua with letters by Luan debuts Wednesday.  Both Jake and Luan contributed to the David Hopkins anthology mini-comic  One Night Stand which comes out Wednesday as well.  There are TONS of great books you’ve never heard of coming out this week.  Check with your friendly local comic shop to get your hands on them.

Funnybooks with Aron and Paulie: Missile Mouse’s Jake Parker

by Aron on Dec.16, 2009, under Comics, Funny Books with Aron & Paulie, New Comic Book Day Interviews, Podcasts

This post will be at the top through Thursday!  Scroll down for the latest news!

We recently had the good fortune to visit with Jake Parker.  “Visit” is the appropriate word as Jake is just good company this episode being more a recording of three guys chatting rather than interview.  That said, we still ask him a lot about his background, his animation career (Titan A.E), and his upcoming Missile Mouse from Scholastic.
